Tracing German-Scandinavian history …

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a federal state with a lot of space for fresh ideas. More than 500 km of the state’s boundary is Baltic sea coastline. Inland, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern lake district, which is the largest in Central Europe, invites exploration. Furthermore, the gothic brick-lined houses of the towns and Hanseatic cities are full of charm, too. The Baltic sea is not a real boundary though. It forms a bridge into scandinavia. Historically, there have also been bridges to Scandinavia as parts of Pomerania were Swedish until 1903. The famous Swedish Strait stretched across the whole coastline.

We have collected some interesting stories of our region on the following pages. Have fun reading!
